Pontiac Trans Am Anniversary (1979)
.png)
After almost axing the Trans Am in 1972, Pontiac decided to continue with it through the fuel conscious mid-1970s, and eventually they had a best seller late in i hat decade. The car shown was the 10th Anniversary model, all in silver and featuring the W72 400ci (6.6-liter) V8 plus four-speed Borg Warner Super T10 manual transmission. Though the Trans Am had been redesigned a year before, it featured much the same suspension layout but on the Anniversary model a special upgrade of the springs and shocks took care of cornering, along with 7x15-inch (178x381mm) Turbine alloys and wide radial tyres. Braking was also exceptional, with the four-wheel discs being power assisted. The interior looked ultra-modern for the time, having a machined aluminium dash with seven sport gauges, drilled three-spoke steering wheel, and silver vinyl high-back bucket seats.
