Pontiac GTO Judge

Launched in Carousel Red only paint with 'The Judge' logos on the hood and fenders, you couldn't miss this new GTO. Looks were backed up with a regular 350bhp (261kW) 400ci (6.6-liter) on the base model, while the best Judges got the 366bhp (273kW) Ram Air HI engine. Also provided with the car was heavy-duty suspension with stiffer springs and shocks. The standard gear ratio in the rear axle was 3.90:1 with a Safe-T-Track differential, though steeper gears for better acceleration could be ordered. Externally the car was one of the first to use energy-absorbing fenders which would cope with any low-speed knocks. The car was raved about for its interior style, with a very clear dash layout and a useful hood-mounted rev counter. The buckets seats gave good support and the Hurst shifter could bang the four-speed Muncie gearbox into gear without missing a shift.
