Jaguar XJ6

If 'Grace, Space and Pace' was the mantra behind Jaguar's cars, then the XJ6 had the lot. Jaguar boss William Lyons was a true car enthusiast, and the XJ6 was very much his brainchild - he even influenced the styling and engineering, and took a hands-on approach in the car's development. The XJ6 was an instant success, with stunning styling that worked from every angle, a fantastic ride quality and handling poise that could put many a sports car to shame. In 1972, a fabulous VI2 engine joined the line-up and brought with it new levels of luxury, while facelifts came in 1973 and 1979. The car continued in production for 17 years and was always a strong seller, especially in the USA. Even the very latest XJ saloon, which uses bonded aluminium technology and computer wizardry, has styling that is almost a facsimile of the original XJ6, such was the perfection of its design.
