Ford Mustang Mach 1 (1969)

The Mach 1 sat between the mighty Boss 429 and the highly strung 302, and with the great 428 Cobra Jet engine, it was just what many Mustang fans were waiting for. The Cobra Jet motor had a strong bottom end, which made it ideal for performance use, and in 1969 it came in three states of tune, the Drag Pack being the top version, with the Super Cobra Jet engine. Inside, the Mach 1 had specially designed instruments heavily set into the dash, plus a split dash top and high-backed bucket seats. Externally the style was more evident with a Shaker hood that attached an intake directly to the engine-top through the hood, thus you could see I lie engine 'shaking' as it idled. The spring and shock rates were firmed up, and the rear shocks were staggered either side of the axle to reduce wheel hop which was prevalent on high-bhp Mustangs.
