Chevrolet Impala (1960)

The Impala was Chevrolet's top-of-the-range model in 1959, and it had everything. Huge fins, wild styling, plenty of horsepower and luxury fittings galore. It wasn't about handling, more about comfort, so it ran a basic separate chassis with double wishbones up front and a coil sprung live rear axle. It was offered with a choice of engines from a straight-six right up to the 348ci (5.7 liter) this car is equipped with. Designers concentrated on making it long and low, and gave the buyer a huge options list with which to 'customize' their vehicle. This particular car has side skirts, spot lights, a continental kit, fender guards, remote trunk release, cruise control, air-conditioning and power-assisted everything. Inside it can carry six with comfort. Due to its custom nature, it has become a firm favorite with lowrider fans in more recent times.
